REC Healthcare, the specialist sector group for REC members who work in health and social care recruitment, has this week approved a new executive committee to oversee the campaigning work of the growing group and drive their engagement on key issues relating to NHS staffing. Members of the new committee include representatives of agencies that recruit nurses, locum doctors, allied health professionals, carers, social workers and clerical staff for the health service.
REC Healthcare is already engaging with organisations such as NHS Employers, the Government Procurement Service (GPS), the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Health Professions Council (HPC) to discuss the potential implications of the Health and Social Care Act for the recruitment of staff in the NHS. A recent REC Healthcare meeting brought together over 100 specialist recruitment agencies and provided a forum for members to engage with government on the changes to resourcing and procurement in the NHS.
Commenting on the role the new executive will play Andrew Horner, Chair of REC Healthcare, says:
