A leading Government owned Petroleum company in the Middle East had recently lost their General Manager of the Maintenance Department. The role was responsible for the maintenance of the large refinery (handling over 200,000 barrels a day) and related terminals with a storage capacity of over 10 million barrels. The position was critical to the effective operation of the business and so speed in sourcing a highly qualified replacement was imperative, which created the urgent need to engage oil and gas headhunters for the executive search.
MSC Headhunting won the assignment because they were able to offer a thorough, fast and guaranteed service, promising to deliver a shortlist of ideal candidates within 4-6 weeks. The research teams taken from MSC’s UK, German and Dutch offices all began mapping out the related source organisations. These included firms across the globe from the oil and gas industry including consultancies, other refineries both government and privately owned and terminals. Senior Maintenance Engineers across the Middle East, Europe and the US were identified and approached as the client had a large EXPAT working community on board already.
Over 150 candidates had been contacted throughout this process and the best individuals were shortlisted following several phone interviews and rigorous face to face interviews with an MSC Director. After only 4 weeks the client received the CV’s and candidate reports of the 5 shortlisted candidates. These people were selected on their ability, past related experiences, track record of success, ability to fit into the culture of the business and also their motivation to accept this new post for the right conditions.
The client video interviewed all the shortlisted candidates and invited their favourite individual to come and visit the refinery for the day, meet the team and complete their own audit. The chosen candidate was made an offer within a week of the site visit and after working his notice began in the new role.
